Fathers have very specific rights that they can assert

Fathers have specific rights when it comes to their children. We recently discussed the case of the father who fought an adoption that he didn't consent to. If you recall, he won the case. While this is an extreme example of what can happen when a father fights for his rights, it is also a powerful example.

With very few exceptions, such as cases involving child abuse, children need to have a relationship with both parents. The days of the mother being able to railroad the father and keep the kids are gone. Fathers can fight for their parenting rights -- and many of these cases end with the father being able to be an involved parent.

We understand that you might be concerned about how your child custody case is going to end. While we are unable to tell you with certainty what will happen, we can let you know your options and help you formulate your plan.

Ultimately, the court is going to look at what is in the child's best interests. This isn't something that is always easy to determine, but it is the standard that is set for these cases. We can help you find out what the court might consider in the case.

There are some child custody cases that are resolved through mediation. When you and your ex can work on the agreement together, you might find that your case ends in a mutually agreeable manner. This can make the terms much easier for you to live with than if you put your child's fate and your future with your child into the hands of the judge, who is a stranger without personal knowledge of your circumstances or your child.
