On Behalf of | Apr 21, 2017 | Child Custody

We recently discussed grandparent’s rights and how they can impact a child. Grandparents rights are only one factor that can bear weight during a divorce. When you are going through a child custody case, you have to think about what is best for your child.

We know that it isn’t easy for you to think about your child having to spend time away from you. When you and your child’s other parent aren’t in a relationship any longer, you may have to deal with this possibility.

Education

Your child’s education is one aspect of your child’s life that you have to think about. This is important, so make sure that it is covered in the child custody paperwork. At a minimum, the order should determine who is supposed to make decisions about the child’s education. This can be either you, your ex or both.

Health care

Your child’s health care is another decision area that should be considered in a child custody matter. Don’t only think about basic health care. You also need to have instructions for what should happen if there is an emergency.

We know that all of this is a lot to think about. It is imperative that you don’t try to rush through these decisions. Your child’s future deserves to have the attention it needs so that your child can excel. We can help determine the points to address, as well as find ways that might enable you and your ex to both play an active part in your child’s life.
